4 Ways To Make Videos Mobile-Friendly | Facebook & Instagram

Need to create more mobile friendly videos?

Have you used Facebook or Instagram mobile friendly videos?

Well, maybe you wonder what we mean by mobile friendly.

Here are 4 examples of mobile friendly format videos you’ve probably seen before and you’d like to try out.

1- Square videos – aren’t they hip?

Dimensions: 1:1 (1080 x 1080)

You can use them on Facebook and Instagram such as this example.

According to Animoto, Square videos get +28% more views than landscape ones. They also tend to get more shares and likes. One of the explanation could be that they take up to 78% more screen space than the regular size videos.

2- Vertical/Portrait videos –  different angle, right?

Dimensions: 2:3 (1080 x 1280)

You can use them on Facebook and Instagram.

3- Instagram Stories – they’re super pretty on phone

Dimensions: 9:19 (1920 x 1080)

You can use them on Instagram Stories – the length can very from anywhere between one second and 15 seconds.

4- FACEBOOK VIDEO ADS

Format is one thing, length is another one. Try to mix the length of your videos based on if they’re meant to be an ad or organic posts. So you know, 6-10 sec videos have more chance to be used as an ad-break on Facebook.

Social media influencer : is it for your small business?

Yes!

I could stop here…but that would not be nice.

First thing first, what is a social media influencer?

social media love marketing webmarketing conversion facebook facebook ads power editor infopreneur entrepreneur digital marketing angélique binet

But Angélique… I can’t hire Beyoncé to talk about my products or services. Ahahah! Of course, but there is a way.

Just to get you started

Here are the 5 tips I share more often with my students:

  1. Pick your most loyal customer and check his presence on social media: do they have a blog, or any online community where they could be profiling products and services of yours?  If so, you could offer them their favorite products in exchange of online buzz.
  2. If you have a boutique, get a local blogger with a small but strong community online and invite them to pick all the products they’d like to try and ask them if they could profile the ones they prefer on their online platforms.
  3. If you are a conference organizer, invite a blogger, a personality or an advocate in the field of your conference’s topic to attend the conference. Prior to the conference, they will let the world know that they will be attending your event, then during the conference, they will post live content on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat etc.
  4. Try to figure out which social media platforms you want to target and make sure that your local influencer will be active on these networks
  5. Paying or not paying? Based on my experience, both ways work very well. If you’re at low tides right now in your budget, you can give products and services in exchange of social media content on your influencer’s online platforms.

How to approach small influencers?

The thing is that they’re probably looking for content to write about. Reach out to them and explain to them the mutual value of the partnership. Make sure you show them you know their platforms and that you would love to work with them. If you have no budget, they might be open to an exchange: a meal in your restaurant, a free membership at your gym, a free entrance ticket to your event etc.

How to find your local influencers?

  • For this, I like to read newspapers or local magazines. Journalists interview experts in so many fields of expertise.
  • Talk to your customers, they probably know some friends who would love to share stories about what you sell.
  • You can also use social listening tools such as BuzzSumo that lists influencers for you.
  • Or use the Search section of Instagram, Facebook etc. They’re probably closer than you think.

And please make sure to learn more about this topic.

If you’re a small business owner, and you’ve been using influencers, can you share with us your formula to make these partnerships happen.

Why Facebook ate my live video…

Once upon a time, a very energetic girl jumps on Facebook to teach how to go live on Facebook for the first time, when you’re really scared.

So, one of my points was to tell my peeps that I love listening to music that pumps me up just before any facebook live stream. What I did is showing them how it looks and sounds…. BIG MISTAKE…I put the music on, in my office, in the background…and Facebook picked it up as if I was using the music illegally.

Guess what?! After 30 minutes of intense teaching, I stopped my Belive.tv broadcast, went to Facebook optimize my video…but it was gone! I couldn’t see it anymore.

And I knew it was there before because I’ve checked the comments multiple times during the live broadcast.

So… Here’s how Switcher Video puts it simply to explain copyright rules for Facebook live video: Screen Shot 2018-01-26 at 12.38.36 PM.png

By the way, did you know that Facebook added an audio library for video creators. Go to your PUBLISHING TOOLS on your Facebook page and you can explore from there.

As explained by Facebook:

Sound is a key ingredient in videos — it can instantly change the mood, build suspense, or evoke emotion. We’ve heard that you want an easier way to find sound effects and music to use in your videos, and that’s why we’re launching the Facebook Sound Collection. This is part of our broader commitment to providing video creators with the various tools they need to grow on Facebook.

Let’s talk MINDSET today.

So today, I’m talking to you – the ones who’re scared of Facebook Live, Instagram Live, YouTube Live. Believe me I completely understand where you stand. No worries it will come. Believe me.

When you’re not accustomed to show your face on camera it’s a challenge…and you can address that challenge step by steps, and come out as a winner.

Social video generates 1200% more shares than text and images combined – Brightcove

Here are 5 tips you can start with when you plan on doing a Facebook Live:

  1. BREAK THE ICE: Don’t show your face but show your products. This could help you get started.
  2. INTERVIEW A PERSON so that you’re not alone. Ask the questions and the other person talks for you.
  3. TELL YOUR AUDIENCE you’re a little nervous… but that you’re eager to share this ONE tip with them
  4. BE INTENTIONAL: deeply inside you, feel the big reason why you want to be giving this message. Feel strongly inside that you will be helping at least that ONE person.
  5. SMILE, be vibrant, even laugh…this will help you to open your air ways  when you’re freaking scared!

BONUS: Don’t expect to be perfect, but do the best as you can. This will switch your mindset and get you going.

Train your Facebook community

I’ve been reading and watching so many advice on how we have to change the way we do Facebook since the announced major changes to the News Feed that are designed to bring people closer together.

social media love marketing webmarketing conversion facebook facebook ads power editor infopreneur entrepreneur digital marketing angélique binet

In most of them, I can see there is a common point. We’ll need to educate our fans to interact with our page differently:

  • have them to use our Messenger Platform more
  • comment longer comments under our Facebook posts
  • interact more with other Facebook profiles when commenting under our post
  • have them live with us when we do a live video
  • have them to add our page as a See First

And for us as a marketer, small or big, we’ll have to crank up our way of mastering Facebook Ads, Facebook Live and Messenger Bots. And most of all, we’ll have to go back to the old engagement battle we’ve been talking for the last decade – but meaningful engagement.

Isn’t it exciting! What’s your take on all these changes?

Cheers,

– Angélique

How To Select a Facebook Page To See First

Did you know that you can set your News Feed preferences, as a person?

Did you know that you could influence how your fans set up their News Feed preferences, as a Facebook page?

What does See First means on Facebook?

When you select a person or Page to see first, their posts appear at the top of your News Feed. The person or Page won’t know you selected them. – Facebook

As default, when people like a new page it looks like this. But…

Screen Shot 2018-01-20 at 5.21.57 PM.png

The See First option is OFF

If you educate your Facebook community by telling each of your fans and followers to select the See First option in their news feed, it will look like below.

Screen Shot 2018-01-20 at 5.22.08 PM

The See First Option Is ON

In this video, I’m showing you how to do it in real time on Facebook.

Teach your tribe how to make sure they see your posts

I would recommend to all of you solopreneurs, small businesses and organizations, to hop on your Facebook page for a Live Video session with your peeps and tell them to do as shown to you in this video.

I’m bringing back this tip that is not new but underused in the context of the Facebook’s News Feed algorithm changes that are coming up this year. This may help Facebook pages to stick to their fans’ newsfeed more easily. We’ve got to try it as a personal user and as a Facebook page business owner and see what happens.

Plus I’ve noticed that this facebook see first list is quite a popular topic searched on Google. My Google AdWords account tells me that these keywords are the most researched:  see first facebook, see first, facebook see first list, facebook see first setting, facebook timeline and see first list facebook.

Are you up for this? Let me know in the comments.

Cheers,

– Angélique

7 TIPS : RECONNECT WITH YOUR FACEBOOK TRIBE

Now, how do you do that. Well, it’s all about what Facebook is about: building communities.  And yes it’s a lot of work as any great thing…it takes times and consistency. But it’s worthy.  How many times I told my clients: don’t throw Facebook ads out there without even knowing who you’re talking to, let’s build the love first! [Unless you’ve done your homework and you exactly know who needs what]. So here are a few tips, if you want to build or strengthen your community on Facebook. This is not exhaustive as we’ll be talking about this more in depth all year long in 2018.

1- SEE FIRST

Ask your current fans to add you in their list of Facebook pages to see first.  Screen Shot 2018-01-13 at 8.17.18 AM

2- CREATE A FACEBOOK GROUP

Facebook groups are a great start to create bonding relationships with people who’ve discovered you and want to see more exclusive content from you before buying from you. See how to create a group here. You can join mine today by clicking on the image. Screen Shot 2018-01-13 at 8.49.08 AM.png

3- USE FACEBOOK’S FREE FEATURES

There are so many options you can use to interact with your community on Facebook that will help you build a personal relationship with them via Messenger, Newsletter, Polls etc.Screen Shot 2018-01-13 at 8.33.20 AM

4- BUILD YOUR EMAIL LIST AND USE IT

Emails are the steady blood of your business. People might not see you on Facebook because of the algorithm, but they see your emails in their Inbox, whether they choose to open it or no. I personally use Mailchimp. Open your account today and collect e-mail from your peeps : let them know about your next Live Video on Facebook, your new services, your new freebie etc. By the way, join my list if you think I can help you more. Screen Shot 2018-01-13 at 8.51.34 AM.png

5- USE A SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT CALENDAR

Your calendar will help you not to loose your mind. Each and everyday you know what needs to be posted on social media because you spent a good hour on the weekend figuring our what will be your focus on Facebook this week, keeping in mind you want to build a tight and loyal community. You can do it on a monthly basis as well, even better. Download my template here.

6- HELP PEOPLE WITH LIVE AND RECORDED VIDEOS

The more people can benefit from your expertise for free in your groups or on your Facebook page, the more they will be open to become your best advocates and loyal fans sharing your videos with their friends so that you can be seen in the News Feed. Learn more tips about Facebook VideosScreen Shot 2018-01-13 at 9.08.56 AM.png

7 – ASK PEOPLE TO HELP YOU

People who follow you like you as a person to a certain degree. Some of them like you so much that if you ask them to share or comment in a very kind and transparent way, THEY WILL. Trust your tribe. But keep the good work at all times. Serve them.

BONUS: CRANK UP YOUR GAME WITH MESSENGER MARKETING

I’ve been playing with ManyChat bot for the last 2 months and it’s pretty impressive all you can do with a bot – a nice bot – a bot that sounds like you. I would encourage each of you smaller businesses to embark on this Messenger marketing journey as this will be a great way to support your Facebook efforts.

I have nothing to say…on video

When you’re telling me this, I have a feeling that

  • you are scared to go live on Facebook, Instagram or YouTUbe – which I completely understand
  • you are underestimating the power of your knowledge and expertise
  • you think people gonna make fun of you
  • or maybe you’re scared they gonna discover how awesome you are
  • or…

There is no end to the list of excuses we can make in order to avoid stretching ourselves to the next level of our personal and business growth.

makeup (1)

Here’s what I tell my clients when I help them get into Facebook Live or Instagram Live: if you were to help at least ONE person on Earth because of what you know [and they don’t know yet] , how would it feel? When you focus on the help you can provide to that ONE individual, you will be surprised of the response you get. Maybe not on the day of your live video, but a few days later, or at the grocery store 3 weeks later with someone coming to you and say: I loved what you said the other day on Facebook, I now do what you said to do and it changed everything.

Because guess what….no matter where we are in our level of expertise, there are always people further than us and behind us. And you’re here to help the ones behind you and get mentored or trained by he ones in front of you.

It’s called The Line Of Learning. [I’ve just made it up ahahahah]

So go to your Facebook page, Instagram Story and talk about what you can do to help people in your field of interest. Make sure to tag me @socialmedialoveab on Facebook and Instagram. I want to watch you. You can do it! And you will be SO proud.

Cheers,

– Angélique
