WHAT TO SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA FOR ENTREPRENEURS

Who else is sweating when figuring out what to post on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn?

If you see me as your social media marketing doctor, the first thing I will point out is this: have you talked to your audience lately trying to figure out what they’re looking for?

They probably want to know if you have a solution for them, and if it works for them. Maybe they’re wondering if other people like them tried it and had success with it. Or maybe they just want to know you’re here for them and have a little chat on how life is going right now as they’re trying to make it better for themselves, their family or their clients and employees.

You see it’s a SEA of content ideas.

YOUR CONTENT CONVEYS YOUR MESSAGE

Second, I would remind you that you are the leader of your online community. Therefore you have to act like a leader.

What does that mean? Leaders attract with their message.

Most often, they mix their message with educational, informative and storytelling pieces.

We listen to them. We want to be like them.

So here you go.

What do you like to talk about that resonates with your audience. Try to think of your top 3 buckets of topics that really anchor you in the why of your business?

For example: live a chemical-free life, quality family time for teenagers, team building, buying local, environment-friendly habitats… what are the 3 topics that put you on fire?

YOUR 5 HATS A BUSINESS OWNER IN CHARGE OF MARKETING AND SALES

As a leader of your community, you get to wear different leadership hats

  1. You’re the teacher
  2. You’re the reporter
  3. You’re the marketer
  4. You’re the salesperson
  5. You’re the entertainer

And look! This is basically how you organize your social media calendar.

  • The teacher will explain to me how to make the perfect muffins or how to get my team on board.
  • The reporter will bring all the facts, information, data and research that will show me that I really need to get on board with what my leader is saying.
  • The marketer will explain to me the benefits of his/her products, how their clients feel after using them or buying them.
  • The salesperson will show up after teaching, informing and marketing to me how the hell their products or services are necessary to me now and not tomorrow.
  • The entertainer might post some memes, ask me fun questions about my personality or show me a funny behind the scene of the business.

YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT RECIPE

Here’s the recipe. Mix their struggles, hope and beliefs with your passion topics and solution products and services…and you have your content.

Take 5 different approaches : teach me something you know, show me the data, showcase the benefits of the solution you offer, don’t forget to make me laugh (at myself) and sell me the thing!

And in between all of these approaches you and I will interact, like, comment, share, ask questions… conversation will be our currency.

And yes it takes time. Dedication. Consistency.

Give yourself a block of time to interact with your audience and stick to it. I personally take 20 min a day to interact on FB, IG, and Lindkedin.

In terms of creating content, if I don’t do it weekly, I do it in 15 minutes per day. I repurpose a lot of my content from one platform to the other. And I schedule as much as possible.

➽ If you’d like to talk to me about your social media strategy, I would be happy to brainstorm with you how you and your business could position themselves right now on social media.
