The 5-Step Plan to Help You Hit Your Social Media Marketing Goals in the New Year!

I think most of us can’t help but to look forward to a new year and picture how we want ourselves or some aspect of our lives and business to be better. There’s something in the moment that feels so hopeful as one year closes and another begins.

What is it that makes us believe we will somehow want to show up different next year online? Why don’t we want to act that way now instead? Could it be that we’re not sure if we really want to change or change the way we do things because they’re soothing, familiar, or maybe even addicting (yes, I’m talking about social media addiction instead of social media action)?

Nevertheless, it’s really common for women entrepreneurs to make resolutions and swear to themselves that, come January, they’re going to be strong enough to go cold turkey on certain things they know don’t serve them, or super motivated to adopt new tactics they’ve heard about in their last zoom networking event.

Unfortunately, most don’t succeed in sticking to their resolutions. Though they may feel enthusiastic at the start, once the excitement passes, they’re likely to lose steam or interest and retreat to their comfort zone and feel sad and guilty about it.

Remember don’t judge anything that may come up for you right now. We’re in a non-judgment zone here at Social Media Love.

Sound familiar? Well, it does to me too! I spent many years making New Year’s resolutions that were stressing me out. A few years ago, I changed my approach and realized that I had all the time in the world to make it happen what needs to happen in my marketing operations.

The 5-Step Plan to Help You Hit Your Social Media Marketing Goals in the New Year!

Even though I don’t make resolutions anymore, I still want to continue improving various aspects of my life and business – especially on how I promote it online every year. To do this, I set new intentions or goals for the coming year by choosing a WORD.

This year – 2022 – I chose the word CONNECT and it will look like this: I will focus my intention on making sure that…

  1. I create content that CONNECTS with my company’s offers, whether it’s a free or paid offer, each and every week.
  1. My sales process (the step-by-step journey that attracts the perfect stranger to buy my signature program) is well CONNECTED to my marketing goals (attract, nurture, and convert) basing my intentions on my top 3 marketing strategies, which are Attraction via Social Media & Public Events, Nurturing via Signature Content on YouTube & Podcast, and Conversion into leads/emails via lead magnets, webinars, workshops, roundtables & exploratory calls for the final conversion. As a consultant and coach, most prospects come from referrals and social media, who then attend a webinar or a workshop, then decide to hop on an exploratory call where they decide to convert into clients or not.
  1. I keep building my email list through free offers, lead ads, webinars and most importantly making sure I follow up with my email community as soon as they get on board. The email is not only the golden CONNECTOR between your online presence and your sales system but also the pathway to really CONNECT with people who really care about what you can do for them.
  1. I have a plan to hold myself accountable for the changes I want to make, which involves continuing to CONNECT my mind and body through the inner work by healing, growing, and expanding whom I want to become like the leader of Social Media Love’s community.
  1. I connect with other women entrepreneurs and organizations who foster women empowerment by connecting them with other inner circles of like-minded leaders and funding opportunities.

This strategy lets me understand why and what I hope to achieve, which helps me stay focused on my goals and increases my chances of success. I think it will help you too!

I also created a worksheet for you to help you make a quick audit of your social media marketing strategy. Grab your free bonus here.

Here are all the things you’ll learn:

  • Understand Your Ideal Customer Journey and know how to keep them close step-by-step
  • Know How to Nurture Clients by taking a closer look at your landing pages
  • Create a Follow-up System by creating an email marketing system and connect

Even with a good strategy, things can alter the best-laid plans. However, we know that life always comes in the way, and it’s totally okay.

Most of the time also, our own beliefs can be roadblocks to success – whether conscious or unconscious.

Therefore, I encourage you to listen and take notes (again don’t judge anything). I’m sharing with you what comes most often for myself and the women entrepreneurs I work with and  ask yourself if any of these (or any other internal obstacles) apply to you:

  • Deep down inside, you don’t believe social media works for you because you feel you’re not techy enough.
  • As much as you think you want to become visible online, you’re afraid to.
  • You don’t have confidence in your ability to succeed at social media marketing.
  • You’re very self-critical and give yourself a lot of negative messages – especially when you see other industry members online acting in their IG stories or LinkedIn post as if they know it all.
  • You feel you procrastinate at setting up your online presence, whether it’s social media or your sales page.

If you can relate to any of these, start using your journal to describe how you feel about this and on the next page, push yourself to write what your business would look like if you had any of these resistances. Put your timer on – 5 min max.

You can also reach out to a social media marketing coach to help you work through them. The key to success is to take the time to listen inside and see what’s poisoning us in our heads – and make sure we don’t believe any thoughts that come up. Most of our thoughts come from our fears, it’s totally normal. This is why when you work on your marketing you got to work on your beliefs and CONNECT both.

Without recognizing this, it becomes easier for you to sabotage your own efforts, which can discourage you from trying again.

You deserve to have a business that supports the life you want and be the person you know you are on the inside. As you look forward to the coming year, try my strategies for successful goal setting, so that in 12 months from now, you can look back and be proud of what you were able to do for yourself. And don’t forget you don’t have to do it alone. Ask for help once you’re clearer on how you want to promote your business online.

My best wishes to all of you for a visible and abundant 2022!

Angélique
