Ever wonder how the experts make marketing sound so easy? Study these key social medial principles and your social media strategy will get a A+ grade within the next three months. What is the social media landscape?

What’s the best social media platforms for you?

The best social channels are the social media platforms where your customers are. This will require that you know who’s your ideal client and where they hang out online.

And yes, they could be on multiple channels. But what are the ones where they interact the most.

When determining your audience for your business, you’ll identify a few criteria that helps you learn about who they are, the language they speak, what they’re looking for and what solution you can provide to them.

In The Audience DNA Lab, my clients and I typically spend 2 months laser focused on defining their target audience around these 3 types of topics:

  • Demographics
  • Interest
  • And behaviours

An easy way to figure this out is to interview your friends, industry connections and people who are interested in your topics when you post about it online.

What’s your goal on social media?

The right channels speaks to the alignment with your on business goals on social media. The selection of these goals will define your strategy and tactical plan.

For example, when I work with my clients who are new to social media marketing, we often start with

  • growing awareness and reach new audiences
  • engaging with customers
  • increasing booking and sales

These goals on top of advertising tactics propulse their business on the online map.

What type of creative content will you share?

Most of the time, you will consider posting videos, images, text, GIFs, and a mix of all of these.

Never the less, if your products is about design, arts or visual things, you may want to consider more visual platforms such as Instagram, Pinterest etc.

Instagram for business

Instagram has over a billion of accounts active every single month. 90% of accounts follow a business on Instagram. Yes, you can’t talk about Instagram without talking about Stories. 500 Million of Instagram accounts use Stories every day.

Other platforms you may want to consider

Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp are the same family. They help people connect with each other and brands they love.

They offer tons of FREE business tools that you can use anytime to grow your business. Stories are a common element. You can also create Facebook groups, and host events to build your community.

Outside of the Facebook family of apps, you have LinkedIn, YouTube (that I love), Pinterest, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter etc. So many choices!

This is why you have to study who your ideal client is and figure out where they spend most of their time online. Think about where they are on social media and pick the channel best suited to your business goal.
